Getting to Joe's Is Half the Adventure
We handle the flights and the water taxi. Here's exactly what your travel day looks like, start to finish.
Before You Arrive
Baggage
Maximum 25 lbs per person. No carry-ons.
What to Pack
Waterproof jacket, pants, and boots, plus warm layers, sunscreen, sunglasses, toiletries, and a camera. Rain gear and rubber boots aren't provided on site.
Fishing Licenses
Get your Tidal Waters Sport Fishing License and Pacific Salmon Stamp online before you arrive. Kids under 16 fish free but still need a license.
International Guests
A valid passport is required to enter Canada.
Your Travel Day

Vancouver South Terminal
4440 Crowley Crescent, Richmond, BC — not the main YVR terminal. A free courtesy shuttle runs between the main terminal and South Terminal every 30–45 minutes. Staying overnight? River Rock Hotel and Radisson Blu Vancouver both offer shuttle service.

Check-In
Check in at the Pacific Coastal Airlines counter by 1:30pm. Departure is 3:00pm, so plan to arrive by 2:00pm with a government-issued ID.

Flight to Bella Bella
About 1 hour 20 minutes in the air. Whale and porpoise sightings are common along the way.

Water Taxi to the Lodge
Our staff meet you at the Bella Bella dock aboard the Clowhom Spirit 1 for the roughly 1 hour 20 minute run through Hakai Pass.

Arrival at the Lodge
We unload your baggage straight to your room. Check the fish board for your name, room, and boat number, then join us for a welcome dinner in the Lodge Lounge. A 30-minute Fishmaster Seminar covering safety and technique is mandatory before you head out.
Departure Day
5:00am — Breakfast service
11:00am — Last call to be back at the dock so your catch can be properly frozen
11:00am – 12:30pm — Checkout: settle your bar tab and equipment charges, fill out a quick feedback questionnaire, and have your bags outside your room by 12:30pm
~1:00 – 1:30pm — Water taxi departs (fish boxes loaded 5–10 minutes prior)
~7:00pm — Expected arrival back at South Terminal
Your catch is cleaned, vacuum-sealed, frozen, and boxed before you go.
